Totally Tipi is a young and vibrant company who’ll set up their teepees anywhere you like… perhaps a venue such as Denton Hall in Ilkley, you could set them up in a field in the middle of nowhere or even in your garden… if it’s big enough.

I met the lovely team Jay, Laura and Alan while making this film for them. They are really committed to the teepees and making your day unique.

In this film photographer Richard Wynn-Davies was capturing the day and the venue was dressed lovingly by Sarah Richardson from Leafy Couture and Rose Pink Vintage.

I’ve decided to make booking with Story of Your Day easier.

There are lots of videographers out there to choose from. And it’s essential you find the right one for you and your wedding. Here’s some tips I feel are very important to look for in your search for the perfect videographer.

12 top tips for hiring a videographer

1. Check show reels and examples of films. These will show the style of the videographer’s work.  Specify the editing style (contemporary, documentary, etc) You really want to have a film that tells a personal story about your big day.

2. Check price lists before arranging any meetings with videographers and confirm with them what they offer within the quoted package.

3. Ask the videographer what type of equipment they will use during your wedding.  What sound equipment do they have and how do they intend to capture you vows and speeches.  Also do they use artificial lighting or natural lighting techniques.

4. Check with a videographer who’s job it is to talk through filming with the church or ceremony venue. It’s important your videographer works out logistics beforehand and if necessary attends a rehearsal.

5. Check if your package includes the use of an additional video camera. If you did want an additional camera, ask how much it would cost.

6. Does the videographer interview guests during the day to add to the edit. If so, how do they put your family and friends as ease.

7. What is the videographer’s attitude towards the photographer. It’s important to find a videographer that will happily work alongside the photographer and compliment what they’re doing. Does the videographer direct the couple or leave this up to the photographer in a ‘shoot the shoot’ style of filming.

8. Ask the videographer if they will have a written contract that both parties will sign.  It’s advisable to ask for a sample copy before booking.

9. Check if the videographer charges for additional hours beyond the agreed contract or filming at any locations other than the wedding venue. If so, how much.

10. Check the videographers policy on music. It must be licensed either for online use or for DVD copies. Does the cost and responsibility of licensing come down to the videographer or you.

11. Ask the videographer what insurance there is in place for both public liability and indemnity.

12. What filming credentials does the videographer have and how long have they worked in film/television or the wedding industry. Are they recommended suppliers of any reputable venues.

It’s suggests that not having a wedding film to cherish after the wedding is one of the main regrets felt by today’s bride.

I now have two bookings for wedding videography at Castle Howard in North Yorkshire.

One wedding is in June this year and the other is next year.

Castle Howard is such an amazing venue to get married.

I cannot wait film the day and make the wedding films.

Having filmed a Fusion Wedding at the wonderful Goldsborough Hall in Knaresborough in Novermber I have now become one of the venue’s recommended suppliers.

Brides magazine has listed Goldsborough Hall in their top 100 venues, and second in the north of England and Scotland. The magazine labelled this Yorkshire wedding venue a “hidden gem” and called the sumptuous six bedroom suites as “stately with a modern twist”.

2013 will be my first full year making beautiful wedding films and there’s so much to be excited about.
